Smart Moves class is a CDC-led National Diabetes Prevention Program that helps participants make real lifestyle changes such as eating healthier, including physical activity into their daily lives, and improving problem-solving and coping skills. This evidence-based program is facilitated by a trained lifestyle coach and participants will make lifestyle changes to prevent diabetes. Sessions are weekly for 6 months and then monthly for 6 months.
Pre-diabetes can lead to type 2 diabetes
One out of three American adults has pre-diabetes (borderline diabetes). Most of them do not know it. Having pre-diabetes means that your blood glucose is higher than normal, but not high enough yet to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Having pre-diabetes raises your risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke. If you have pre-diabetes or other risk factors for type 2 diabetes it is time to take charge of your health. The Smart Moves lifestyle intervention can help you make lasting changes.
