PHS is proud to have a robust, active Board of Health. Below are some available resources compiled for our Board to use.
NACCHO – Public Health and You: This power point presentation provides a brief and concise explanation of what Public Health is and does for use with Boards of Health and/or community partners (schools, students, providers, etc.)
Public Health Association of Nebraska: State Association of Local Boards of Health– It is an organization that is specifically for boards of health members helping other board of health members with their roles, responsibilities and challenges. SALBOH also focuses on the Six Functions of Board governance.
National Association of Local Boards of Health– Informs, guides, and is the national voice for boards of health.
State Association of Local Boards of Health’s Training Manual– The manual is divided into three sections to make it easier to download.

Nebraska Board of Health Toolkit– Developed in collaboration with the Institute for Public Health at the University of Iowa – College of Public Health, this Toolkit will walk you through the many aspects of being a local Board of Health member.
The Governance Functions- NALBOH worked with the CDC and other national partners to identify, review, and develop the model of the six functions of public health governance.
NALBOH’S Six Functions of Public Health Governance– The release of the six Governance Functions was a landmark moment in public health. The boards that govern health departments can now assess their own activities against a standard, and non-governing advisory boards can better understand their important role in the governance process.
Governance in Action– is a 7-module online series based on the Six Functions of Public Health Governance. Each segment is only a short 10-15 minutes.
